Q. What is Denison Day of Giving?

Denison University’s Denison Day of Giving is one day every year when the university asks all alums, parents, families, and champions to make a gift that strikes a spark in today’s students, allowing them to pursue their current interests at a high level while providing the freedom and resources to try new things and develop new passions.


Q. When is Denison Day of Giving?

This fundraising initiative occurs annually in the spring. This year’s Denison Day of Giving will take place on March 30, 2023, from midnight to 11:59 p.m.


Q. Why should I participate?

Three reasons:

  • To help current and future Denisonians experience the life-shaping education that has been a hallmark of Denison for nearly 200 years by giving to an academic or campus program you are passionate about.
  • Because the number of alums who make a financial gift to Denison regardless of size impacts the university’s ability to attract new students. Did you know that compared to regional peer schools like Kenyon and Ohio Wesleyan, Denison is last in the number of alums who give to their alma mater? We can’t let that stand! Help us beat our rivals by making a gift today — gifts of any size count.
  • To honor a relationship or memory you made on The Hill. We all know that Denison is defined by the people who come here, the bonds we form with one another, and the way those experiences shape our lives. Say “thanks” to a friend, spouse, professor, or mentor you met at Denison by making a gift that will enable future students to make similar memories.


Q. Who can donate?

All Denisonians are encouraged to give! Your gifts on Day of Giving are tax-deductible. Contributions may be made via credit and debit card using the GiveGab online platform. These gifts will be received and receipted by GiveGab on Denisons behalf. To make a gift via check, please make your check payable to Denison University and mail it to PO Box 2007, Mount Vernon, OH 43050-7207.


Q. What is GiveGab?

GiveGab is a nonprofit giving platform that helps nonprofits (like Denison) raise money, engage donors, and manage volunteers quickly and efficiently.


Q. How much of my donation goes to the nonprofit?

GiveGab retains a 3% campaign management fee from all donations. Credit Card processing fees are an additional 2.5% + $0.30 for all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover). You are given the option to cover the fees, and if you choose this option, 100% of your online charitable gift will go to Denison.


Q. Do I need to create an account with GiveGab?

No. You do not need to create an account to make a gift.


Q. Can I pre-schedule a donation for Denison Day of Giving?

You cannot pre-schedule your Denison Day of Giving gift, but you may make a gift to Denison before or after the Denison Day of Giving. In order for your gift to be counted towards any matching opportunities, it must be made between midnight and 11:59 p.m. on March 30, 2023.


Q. Is there a minimum gift amount?

There is a minimum gift of $5.00.


Q. How else can I help?

Please help spread the word about Denison’s Day of Giving. Post on your preferred social media platforms and encourage your friends and family to get involved. To become even more engaged, volunteer to be a Day of Giving Ambassador (link to Ambassador info/toolkit).
